Skin Needling Therapy

Microneedling

Microneedling, also known as skin needling, is a procedure using a device covered with tiny, shallow needles to essentially poke holes in the skin surface. The holes are actually therapeutic, they cause a ‘micro injury’ that prompts skin to stimulate collagen production, softening of fine lines, plumping the skin and contributing to a younger look.

This therapy can be used to help combat acne scars, wrinkles or stretch marks.

Microneedling works great for sunken areas on the skin caused by acne or chickenpox, as well as for fine lines, discoloration and general skin rejuvenation. This safe procedure isn’t just for the face. It can also be used on many areas of the body, including the arms, neck, legs, abdomen, back and hands. We can customize microneedling to the desires of each client.

This procedure is available at our Gig Harbor, Covington and Puyallup locations.

Frequently Asked Questions about Microneedling

Do I need a consult to get this service?

No, you do not.  However, we offer complimentary consults with our Master Estheticians to help determine if you are a good candidate for this service if you are unclear. We will cover expected outcome, down time, as well as, pre and post care.

Is this okay for “everyone” or are there any limitations?

There are some health conditions and specialized care that may prevent you from being a candidate for this service. People that have very red, easily blushing skin may not be a candidate for this service. If you are questioning if you are a good candidate, come in and have a consultation. We will be able to determine if this is the correct service for you.

What’s the process like, do you bleed?

There is always a possibility of bleeding. We try to keep it to a minimum. If you are fair skinned, you may stay red longer than others.

Is it painful?

It is not intended to be painful. For some it is even a little ticklish, at times. The numbing cream makes the service very tolerable.

Do you numb the skin?

Numbing cream is applied to the skin prior to the service. It allows the service to be done with minimal pain.

Do I need to come in for several treatments?

This service creates the most impact by being done several times. Collagen production increases with every service. The more services you do, the greater the outcome.

Is it more expensive than a chemical peel?

The price difference between this service and a chemical peel is very different. This service creates a more aggressive “mini wound” to the skin. Numbing is necessary to do microneedling. The skin is open and “injured” for a few days. This is a specialty that not all spas can offer. That is why it is valued at a higher price.

Could I just get more chemical peels and get the same result?

Peels are a great way to make changes in your skin. We love peels. This service is unique in how it can transform the surface of the skin. There is more impact to the skin, creating more collagen production. For someone that feels like they’d like to work on their texture and volume, this may be a more beneficial service.
